Yesterday, we went for a drive on the south side of Canyon Lake and found ourselves rolling into Startzville just in time for lunch.  I used to live in that area, but don’t make it back there much anymore.  I remembered Startz Café was always a wonderful place to eat and I encouraged my friends to stop there for old times’ sake.

la Pluma Retreat is a cute getaway into nature for couples or for someone who just needs an escape into solitude.  This little cabin sits on stilts above the Tipis.

The cabin has a huge private deck with outdoor seating and comfy hammock!

River Road Escapes is located on River Road, just a block down from the Tipis in New Braunfels, TX. It is such a wonderful location for a group to meet and carve out a weekend away. Recently, I invited a group of girlfriends to spend the weekend with me for my 44th birthday at the Escapes. We stayed in Water Haus, which sleeps up to 12 guests. It has 2 master bedrooms and a bunk room and two full baths. It also has a wonderful back deck that overlooks the river and a side yard that has a hammock and a cool fire pit.
